Suzan Hall Biography
First elected to Toronto City Council in 2000…
Suzan Hall has actively represented the residents of the area and consistently achieves positive results for the community. She always listens to resident and community stakeholders.
The past eight years have seen the building of a new police station in the Ward for 23 Division that has made the area safer and brought the police closer to the community. A $9 million legacy of investments in parks and community centres will improve the quality of life for residents for years to come.

By successfully fighting to retain contracted garbage collection service, Councillor Hall helped save taxpayers $20 million. Suzan's annual cleanups of local ravines and efforts to protect trees threatened by the Asian Long-Horned Beetle helped beautify the area and maintain our environmental heritage. Suzan also worked with local businesses to establish the Albion Islington Square Business Improvement Area, a first for north Etobicoke.
The North Etobicoke Revitalization Project (NERP) that Suzan founded links residents and employers to provide job opportunities in the community. Councillor Hall is also a member of Arts Etobicoke and a strong advocate for the arts at Toronto City Council.

On this current term of Council, Suzan continues to promote light rapid transit to connect Etobicoke North to the subway grid and beyond. One quick look at our location and public transit linkages abound as we are close to the airport, access to major highways and neighbour various 905 municipalities. As a member of the Economic Development Committee, Councillor Hall is an advocate of long-term planning to ensure that Toronto remains a magnet for innovation, ideas, investment and tourism
Prior to her election to City Council….
Suzan ably represented the community as the area's school trustee from 1984 to 2000. As a leader in the education community, Suzan served as Chair of the Etobicoke Board of Education and Vice-Chair of the Toronto District School Board.
A uniter and builder, Suzan led the development of the Etobicoke Board’s first Race Relations policy and promoted the expansion and building of new schools in north Etobicoke. As the Chair of the Board, Suzan oversaw the conception of the Humberwood Centre. Suzan also chaired the construction committee for North Kipling Junior Middle School, which included the addition of multi-purpose and seniors rooms to the North Kipling Community Centre.
Suzan has been active in the community as a parent, volunteer and community activist. Suzan was instrumental in the establishment of the Thistletown Multi-Service Centre (TMSC) and has participated on their Board for over 20 years as Chair and Vice-Chair.

She is part of the Executive Committee of the Church of Saint Paul The Apostle, Chair of the First Stage Child Care Centre Board and is active in many organizations that address the needs of the community. |
